How long has RML been in business?
RML Language Services was created in June 2004 in order to address an ever-demanding translation market. However, RML's director, Rafa Lombardino, has been working as a professional translator since 1997 and currently supervises every project that goes through RML's network.

 


 

What are your qualifications?
On the company level, RML is a member in good standing of the Better Business Bureau, San Diego Chapter, and has a spotless record [1] at Proz.com, a web community dedicated to language professionals.

On the personal level, our network of freelance translators take a test and have their resumes and references carefully checked before they become part of our team. Our linguists have been individually working as a translator into their native language for at least five years and come from diversified professional background. Besides, RML's director, Rafa Lombardino, supervises every project that goes through our network, keeping close contact with each linguist to assure that our clients' expectations are met.

Rafa is also personally involved in several projects in any combination concerning English, Portuguese, and Spanish. She has been working as a professional translator since 1997, is an English into Portuguese certified translator by the American Translators Association (ATA) in 2007, and will complete the English and Spanish Translation and Interpreting Certificate at University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in 2008.

 


 

What are your areas of specialization?
We have been working with a wide variety of materials, including the following fields: computer and technology (websites, software interface, manuals and help files, tags, and localization), news and advertisement (press releases, news clipping, product brochures, and ads), business and labor (corporate magazines and newsletters, business reports, contracts and agreements), human resources (employee handbooks, training materials, labor protection and safety), health, environment, and  legal (personal documents, such as birth and marriage certificates and divorce decrees, as well as contracts and agreements, attorney's statements, and court disputes between businesses).

RML's director, Rafa Lombardino, personally works on projects related to computers and communication, having a Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences (Major in Data Processing) and Social Communications (Major in Journalism).

What is your output?
We usually translate 350 to 800 words in one hour, which represents up 5,000 words a day, including proofreading tasks. Our output depends on language combination and the level of technicality of the original text.
